Measuring for your Gate(s)

When measuring for your gates, please measure the size of the complete opening the ironwork is to fill and we will make the necessary adjustments to allow for the hinges, latch and posts (if required). This ensures your gates will fit correctly and accurately.

The measurements stated on all our products are to fit the opening size between your posts/walls/pillars and is not the actual size of the gates once manufactured. You need not account for the hinges or latch or posts (if required) as we make allowances for these once we have your opening size.

We recommend a 2" (5cm) ground clearance beneath all our gates and railing, therefore if you order a 6ft (1.83m) tall gate, the actual gate will measure 6ft (1.83m) when delivered and once hung will measure 6'2" from ground level.

We supply all our gates with free fixings including a latch and receiver or a sliding bolt (depending on customer request) and fixed hinges. All double gates are supplied with adjustable hinges, therefore if your walls are slightly out of square the gates can still be hung correctly.

All our ironwork is supplied in a traditional black primed finish. To protect the lifetime of your product we recommend a further topcoat in a suitable exterior paint.

When ordering your gates please specify which way you expect them to open (i.e. inwards or outwards) and which side of the gate the hinges and latch are to be fitted. We will build your gates exactly as required.

If your gates are going to be automated, please advise us at the time of ordering and we will manufacture the gates automation ready free of charge including a slam plate.

Measuring for your Railing/Fencing

The principle for measuring up for your railing/fencing is the same as pictured above. Simply measure the complete opening the ironwork is to fill and we will make the necessary allowances for the fixing brackets.

The measurements stated on all our products are to fit the opening size between your posts/walls/pillars and is not the actual size of the railing/fencing once manufactured. You need not account for the fixings as we make allowances for these once we have your opening size.

We recommend a 2" (5cm) ground clearance beneath all our gates and railing, therefore if you order a 12" (0.30m) tall length of railing, the actual railing will measure 12" (0.30m) when delivered and once fitted will measure 14" from ground level.

We supply all our railing/fencing with free fixing brackets and dependant on the length of railing/fencing ordered, we will fit supporting feet on the bottom if necessary, again free of charge.

All our ironwork is supplied in a traditional black primed finish. To protect the lifetime of your product we recommend a further topcoat in a suitable exterior paint.
